Jonathan Larson’s iconic rock opera Rent comes to life once more, pulsating with passion, authenticity and Larson’s unforgettable music. Set in the gritty East Village of New York City amidst the struggles of the HIV/AIDS crisis in the late ’80s and early ’90s, Rent follows a diverse group of young artists as they navigate love, loss, identity, and the relentless pursuit of creative expression. At its core, it’s a deeply unapologetically human story—boldly celebrating chosen family, identity and the power of living authentically.

Rent has become a cultural phenomenon since its explosive debut in 1996, earning a Pulitzer Prize for Drama and four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. With its electrifying score and raw emotional power, the show broke boundaries and redefined what Broadway could be, bringing marginalized voices into the spotlight. Tragically, its creator Jonathan Larson never lived to witness its groundbreaking success—he died suddenly on the eve of the show’s first public performance. Yet his legacy lives on in every note, lyric and heartbeat of this revolutionary work.
